What shining qualities do you bring to your role at Harney Lane?
As the fifth generation on the Harney Lane property, Kyle & I were the creative force behind starting the winery. We worked alongside my parents who had stewarded the land into the fourth generation. I currently still manage all the operations on the sales and marketing side of the business, and also manage the compliance and financials (the exciting stuff).
My personality pushes me to continually make things better. I am a bit of a perfectionist, but I feel strongly that the details matter and that we can always improve.
How do you light the path for others?
I hope that I influence our team to care about our guests and about our other team members. It’s important to me that we make people feel welcomed, cared for, and they can enjoy a little escape from the pressures of life when they visit us. I also hope that through being transparent and real about my strengths and weaknesses, others feel empowered to lead too. We are all constantly learning new things. It’s a journey.
In your life, which lady is lighting your path?
Several women have touched my life in different ways but my Mom would have to be the biggest influence. My Mom has never met a stranger, can talk to anyone, remembers everyone’s birthday (many of you may have received the confetti filled cards), and genuinely knows how to make people feel special. It’s a skill set I have to intentionally work at, but it inspires me to make that a part of the heart of Harney Lane.
How can women influence a brighter future for all?
Honestly, I think by simply doing the right thing and treating people in love, we can have a significant impact. I hope everyone feels that if they lead with integrity and kindness in their own sphere of influence, the world will be a better place.
What brings you sunshine?
Watching my kids grow up and become adults. While challenging at times, I am more and more excited to share a different relationship with them as adults.
How do you add sparkle to a dull moment?
Wine with friends of course—which I don’t do nearly often enough! I have two groups of women that I love spending time with. One is our Wine Women’s Bible Study and the other is my coffee group (that often does dinner). They bring me joy, a place to share life, and lots of laughs!
Who lights up your life?
On most days— Kyle! He keeps me challenged, keeps me grounded, and keeps me laughing.
Which Harney Lane wine do you reach for in your shining moments?
Lizzy (Old Vine Zinfandel, Lizzy James Vineyard) has always been my favorite. Lovingly named after our children (their middle names) and my grandparents, it holds a special place in my heart. But I also just love this vineyard— it never disappoints and always has a wonderful story to tell in my glass.
