We are thrilled to announce the line up for this year’s Harney Lane Artisan Series! It’s going to be a sweet month in the Tasting Room.
Our loyal club members, Jeff & Mark of Burniston Farms are back for the second year to share their amazing organic caramels! We’ve invited Brittle California to join us at the recommendation of another wonderful club member who can’t say enough about how delectable their brittle is. And finally, to close the series, Lodi’s own The Rustic Puff will showcase their handmade marshmallows in a variety of fun flavors! Please join us at any or all of these special days!
December 3: Burniston Farms is back for another season of smooth caramel goodness! These chocolate covered confections come in a range of flavors and are lovingly made with organic chocolate and a variety of carefully sourced, local and organic ingredients. Although they make wonderful gifts for friends and family, these melt-in-your-mouth caramels will be hard to give away!
December 10: Brittle California will be showcasing a variety of irresistible artisan almond brittles in several fun flavors. These buttery, toffee-smooth bites have it all – roasted almonds, chocolate and just the right amount of crunch! A perfect present for the candy lover in your life, this bay area brittle boutique is a house favorite.
December 17: The Rustic Puff presents true confectionary bliss in the form of gourmet marshmallows, handmade in a variety of amazing flavors. Not your average mallow, The Rustic Puff offers soft, fluffy, rich marshmallows that will have you reminiscing about toasty fires and steaming cups of cocoa from days gone by.
The Harney Lane Artisan Series takes place Saturday’s in December (3, 10 and 17) before Christmas from 1pm-4pm.
December 5 | 1pm-4pm- Burniston Farms Organic Artisanal Caramels- Our friends and loyal Wine:30 Club Members, Jeff and Mark of Burniston Farms will be here to debut their handmade organic caramels. Smooth, delicious and covered in chocolate! Sold in two and nine packs.
December 12 | 1pm-4pm- Kathy’s Gourmet Kandy- Kathy will join us to feature her locally made toffee, the perfect hostess gift this holiday season. Sold in half and full pound packages. Freshly made, delicious and addicting!
December 19 | 1pm-4pm- Grace of Macaronage & Confections, Lodi’s newest sweet spot, will feature her delicious French style macarons. Paired specifically with our wines for a perfect treat!
We STOMPed out Cancer last Sunday, October 4th. For the 5th year in a row, our family, staff and The Greyhounds Relay for Life Team worked tirelessly to put together a great day of fundraising, wine, food and grape stomping goodness for all to enjoy!
Approximately 100 people jumped into the barrels and STOMPed throughout the day. Our friends Snap Jackson and the Knock on Wood Players kept the energy up with their bluegrassy feel-good tunes. KCRA 3’s Tamara Berg joined us to emcee the event and even climbed into a barrel.
Our raffle, the biggest yet, was full of amazing gifts donated by our friends, business partners and generous community members! There were massages, oil changes, jewelry, gift certificates to top restaurants, wine gift baskets, golf lessons, and so much more. The Silent Auction was also pretty remarkable. A spa gift package to the beautiful Wine & Roses Hotel.Restaurant.Spa as well as a case of our very first vintage 2006 Petite Sirah were the hits!
For the second year in a row, we are happy to announce that the event generated over $12,000 for the American Cancer Society.

We are so excited to announce our 5th annual STOMP Out Cancer fundraiser, hosted in conjunction with Relay for Life team The Greyhounds on Sunday, October 4th from 12-4 pm. We lost our beloved Patriarch, George Mettler, to cancer in 2013. Since then, STOMP has taken on a special significance for our family and all of those who have been affected by the loss of a loved one or a personal battle with cancer.
STOMP is a fun, family-friendly event where guests have the chance to take part in a traditional grape stomp, while supporting a great cause! We look forward to a lively afternoon of grape stomping, live music, incredible raffle and auction prizes, food and desserts for purchase, along with Harney Lane’s own award-winning wines! Join your friends, family and neighbors as we band together in the fight against cancer.

Cost: Free to attend, $20 to participate in the grape stomp

What to expect:
- Stompers should plan to get dirty! We recommend you dress accordingly.
- We also recommend comfortable shoes, such as flip-flops.
- All ages are welcome to stomp, but children under 5 should be accompanied by an adult.
- Stompers will need to check-in on arrival. The grape stomp operates on a first-come first-served basis. Each stomp lasts approximately 60 seconds per person.
- Raffle and auction prizes will be available for purchase throughout the event. Cash, credit/debit cards and checks are all accepted!
- Our Tasting Room will be open regular hours during the event (11 am – 5 pm).
- Food and wine will be available for purchase on site.

It was a magical evening under the stars, this past Saturday night. Our family welcomed eighty of our Wine:30 Club Members and their guests to our fourth annual ‘Dinner with the Family’. These folks were the lucky ones…our dinner sold out in a record 2 hours! It has definitely become the event not to miss! Chef Warren Ito created an amazing menu paired beautifully with our wines. The tablescape was stunning with grapes picked freshly from the surrounding vineyards, lemons from the estate gardens and a plethora of candlelight. Mother Nature provided a stunning full moon and the ideal breeze.
Chef Warren’s menu included:
2014 Albarino- Summer Seafood Salad- ceviche of scallop with marinated shrimp, golden papaya, citrus and jicama
2012 Lizzy James Old Vine Zinfandel- Slow Roasted Pork- fresh corn saute, acorn squash, zin-plum gastrique
2006 Petite Sirah (special Library feature)- Flanken Beef Roulade- roasted garlic and mushrooms duxelle, sweet potato puree
Lizzy James Old Vine Zinfandel Dessert Wine- Baked Golden Bear Ranch Peaches with port-fig sauce and mascarpone cream

Winemaking 101, the third installment of our Winemaker’s Series was full of great information. Winemaker Chad Joseph took guests from our lovely Albarino vineyard through the Crush Pad and into our production facility, on an in-depth journey of just what we do at Harney Lane to process grapes and craft our wines.
Guests were treated to chilled 2014 Albarino in the beautiful vineyard where Kyle discussed how we have grafted this varietal onto chardonnay vines. The story goes… our matriarch, Kathy has always been a big fan of Albarino (her cat is even named ‘Albi’!), and convinced the family to try making our own. It took off and we now have numerous acres dedicated to it! If you are at the tasting room and would like to take a peak at the grafted vineyard, ask our staff where this is.
The Winemaking 101 journey continued onto the Crush Pad, where Chad showed off our production area, press, macro bins and our state of the art tanks where our 2014 Chardonnay was chilling in its cold jacket. Guests enjoyed samples straight from the tank.
Next up was a sample of our 2007 Dry Rose out of the Library. Chad discussed the way in which we make our rose- where we bleed our grapes (saignee), barrel ferment and age on light lees in oak. The braver in the crowd, even poured lees into their hands for a more sensory experience.
Next was a very exciting station- our red winemaking discussion and barrel sample of our brand new varietal Cabernet Sauvignon!!! This is a first for Harney Lane and was a great perk for attendees. Chad and Kyle showed off our sorting table, discussed punch downs, pump overs, settling, racking and so much more.
Finally, guests were led through our picturesque forest for a treat of our port-style Lizzy James Old Vine Zinfandel Dessert Wine paired with a wonderful dark chocolate truffle!
Chad created a handy Glossary of Winemaking Terms that we hope you can learn from! Knowledge is power and there is always something to learn. I need to do some studying!

Our 4th annual STOMP out Cancer event was held on Sunday, October 5. It was a beautiful, warm afternoon during our Indian Summer… actually over 90 degrees out! Nothing a little grape stomping action couldn’t help!
We had one hundred stompers crushing grapes throughout the day! Snap Jackson and the Knock on Wood Players kept the energy up with their fiddle playing, banjo picking bluegrass tunes. Our well loved wines were served by the glass and bottle… the Velvet Creamery served up delicious ice creams (perfect for the warm day!) and our Cheese & Salami platters were prepared for those who worked up an appetite.
We had a fantastic raffle with close to thirty different items ranging from “Dining around Town” basket of gift certificates to a variety of local eateries to Golf Lessons and Equipment. Our Silent Auction was amazing as well. Included were an 8’ kayak donated by Headwaters Kayak Shop,
a spa package at the beautiful Wine & Roses, some amazing tools from the Home Depot, a photography package from Leonard Photography, a Kubota tractor rental from Big Valley Tractor, a foursome of golf at Greenhorn Creek and a Dream Shopping package from merchants at Lincoln Center.

That wasn’t Kyle’s only turn in the barrel, later in the day he competed against last year’s stomping champion Rocky Suess, dear friend of our late George Mettler. Rocky, again, beat Kyle!

Our “house chef”, as we like to refer to him…Chef Warren Ito is pulling out all the stops and preparing some amazing food and wine pairings for our upcoming event- ‘Zinfandel 5 Ways: Harney Lane wines paired perfectly with Chef Warren’s Culinary Creations’. This event is designed to showcase our lineup of ‘Zinfandel’ wines in celebration of Lodi’s 10th anniversary ZinFest Wine Festival which will be May 17 at Lodi Lake Park.
Zinfandel 5 Ways will take place on Thursday, May 15 at 6pm at our winery.
